My mother passed away on February 19th, 2023, at the age of 90.
I faltered briefly, wondering whether I should or could do the gig. Then I remembered her words as lately, she’d decline a second crib game in her apartment, saying “You’ve got a life to live”. She wanted me to carry on, doing what I’m supposed to be doing: involved with my family’s lives, and giving my all to my music work https://lorrainenygaard.com/music/ The inspiration for the gig at Hermann’s then transpired into one of tribute: to happy love songs; upbeat, power-of-positivity lyrics; gratitude for life, family, and friends; heeding the call to create and inspire; laugh, dance and sing like there’s no tomorrow. Live life to the fullest.
To my siblings and I, Ruby taught perseverance and hard work; but also taught us to laugh joyfully, engage in story-telling, dance in the kitchen, and sing along to records. She was my biggest fan and showed up to all my gigs.
Please come to the show. The super big glow in my heart will flow through song and you can experience that.
