Thank you, Victoria music lovers!

A completely sold-out house at Hermann’s Jazz Club on Thursday Feb. 5, for the Nina Simone tribute, and wow, what an electric room! From the very first note, your energy filled the space and carried the music in the most generous way.

Thank you for singing along to the crowd favourites; for leaning in and listening so intently; and for holding space for the full range of her work: from the powerful civil-rights anthems, to the romantic ballads, to the more playful pieces that reminded us of how fearless she was.

Making music alongside Attila Fias, Ross MacDonald, and Hans Verhoeven was an absolute pleasure. Having Roy Styffe join us for a couple of tunes was a real treat. The collective creative energy on that stage blew me away – each song unfolding in its own original way, alive and responsive in the moment. I’m feeling deeply grateful for how beautifully it all came together.

Spending this period immersed again in the music of Nina Simone, (born Eunice Kathleen Waymon) , learning from her brilliance, has been intense, humbling, and incredibly inspiring; even more than my first tribute concerts a couple years ago.

Most of all, thank you to the friends and new faces who showed up, filled the room, and made the night feel so alive. I’m still riding the high, and smiling every time I think of you.

It’s been a wonderful time, building momentum in the craft that is my passion. I look forward to bringing more tributes, story-telling, and more originals of my own, shaped by everything this music continues to teach me. I hope to see you again soon, for the next exciting musical presentation. Until then, many thanks again………
